The Eko Club of Lagos is celebrating its 50th anniversary, marking five decades of dedication to preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of Lagos.

At a press conference in Surulere, Lagos on Thursday, the club highlighted its achievements, with a focus on its pivotal role in safeguarding and promoting the culture of Lagos.

Dr. Ade Dosunmu, former president and chairman of the 50th Anniversary Planning Committee, reflected on the club’s contributions to the development of Lagos over the years.

“Fifty years of unity, camaraderie, and a shared vision,” Dosunmu said, emphasizing the club’s journey from its humble beginnings to its influential role in the social and cultural fabric of the city.

He lauded Eko Club’s efforts in promoting social, cultural, and intellectual growth, adding that its dynamic programs have nurtured talents, celebrated the city’s diversity, and passed down Lagos’ traditions to future generations.

Dosunmu also highlighted the club’s philanthropic efforts, including scholarships for underprivileged children and healthcare support.

These initiatives, he noted, have brought hope and opportunities to many, reinforcing the club’s commitment to community service.

“Together, we can continue to make a lasting impact, not just within our club, but across the Lagos community,” he said.

Speaking at the event, Eko Club President, Razaak Olugbenga Amodu, expressed gratitude to the members for their dedication to the club’s growth and success.

“We are proud to stand today as a club that has integrated culture, tradition, professionalism, and civic conduct,” Amodu said, recognizing the visionary leadership of the club’s founding fathers and elders.

Amodu further noted that while Eko Club remains non-political, it has grown into a respected pressure group advocating for progressive change in society.
