Nigerian singer Korede Bello has revealed the reasons behind his departure from the Don Jazzy-led Mavins Records, a label he joined in 2014.

Speaking during an interview with Hip TV, hosted by reality star KimOprah, Bello shared that his exit in 2021 was driven by a need for personal growth and self-reflection.

Bello, who shot to stardom with hits like Godwin, explained that he felt like a product whose primary purpose was to generate profit for the label.

“I was at a season in my life where I needed to metamorphose, to explore my inner worth, do introspection, understand myself, understand meaning more, and reconnect to my why,” he said.

He further elaborated on how the pressure to constantly produce hit songs and stay relevant in the industry can make artistes lose touch with what truly matters.

“Because I was at a stage where I started to feel like a product that is just there [at Mavins Records] to make money.

“You lose sight of what matters when you chase after the next hit, after the next whatever it is that can get you into conversations. So a lot of artists are addicted to that circle,” Bello stated.
