Governor Godwin Obaseki has charged the people to make the Esan, in Edo Central to make the 21 September governorship election meaningful by electing the best of the candidates in the race.

The Governor said that the State cannot afford a counterfeit governor.

He gave the charge on Thursday at carnival-like governorship campaign rallies of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held in Ekpoma and Irrua.

Both towns are in Edo west and central local government areas respectively, the home base of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Monday Okpebholo.

The Governor stressed that it is important for the people to elect the man who knows what to do and how to do it, which he said was the reason for his support of Dr Asue Ighodalo and Osarodion Ogie to be governor and deputy governor respectively.

He charged each of those present to go back home and tell at least five people that on September 21, they should come out and vote for PDP.

Also speaking, the PDP governorship candidate, Asue Ighodalo, emphasised the need for continuity, saying all the good job the present administration had done must be sustained and built upon.

He assured the people that he would work assiduously to ensure that the people enjoy a better life.

The governorship hopeful therefore charged them to ensure that they go out early on September 21 and vote for the PDP.
