Two weeks after the abduction of the Rivers State Director of the Board of Internal Revenue, Aribibia John Fubara, his whereabouts remain unknown.
He was kidnapped by gunmen on August 24, 2024, at the Okrika Waterfront, Port Harcourt.
The Rivers State Police Command has deployed officers from its Tactical and Anti-Kidnapping units to track down the kidnappers of Fubara.
According to eyewitness accounts, six gunmen arrived at the Okrika Waterfront near Marine Base around 8:20 PM on a speedboat.
They fired shots into the air, creating panic before identifying and abducting their target, Fubara. The kidnappers then fled with Fubara to an undisclosed location.
Fubara, who is also a Knight of Saint Christopher in the Anglican Communion, has not been in contact with his family since the abduction.
His brother, Emmanuel Fubara, confirmed the incident and reported it to the police.
Speaking on the situation, Rivers State Police Command spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, stated, “The command is still on a manhunt to ensure the victim’s safe release. We are determined to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.”
