Newly crowned Miss Universe Nigeria, Chidimma Adetshina, has opened up about her decision to delete her X (formerly Twitter) account, citing concerns for her mental health.

The beauty queen made the revelation during an interview on Arise 360, where she shared how the online space had become overwhelming due to relentless criticism.

Chidimma, 23, had previously faced harsh backlash during her participation in the Miss South Africa pageant, a controversy that escalated when the South African Department of Home Affairs (DHA) accused her mother of fraud and identity theft.

This accusation added fuel to the online scrutiny Adetshina was already dealing with.

Reflecting on her experience, Chidimma explained that the negative comments on social media took a toll on her well-being.

“I had to delete it because I felt like it was too much for me. I’m a comment reader, so I read each and every comment,” she revealed. “For me, I could spend 80% of my day reading comments, and it became toxic.”

The constant engagement with online criticism led her to make the decision to step back. While she continues to use Instagram, she mentioned limiting her comment section for a time to manage the negativity.
