Nollywood actress and producer Wumi Toriola has expressed her gratitude to fans and supporters as she prepares for her first-ever cinema debut.

The movie star, known for breaking YouTube records, is set to make a great leap in her career with the release of Queen Lateefah on September 27, 2024.

Joining the ranks of industry heavyweights like Femi Adebayo, Lateef Adedimeji, Odunlade Adekola, and Eniola Ajao, Toriola’s new film will be her first major project to grace cinema screens. In an emotional note to her fans, Wumi reflected on her journey from appearing on DVD, YouTube, and satellite TV to now entering the cinema space.

“I have explored and am still exploring your screens,” she shared, noting that the next step in her career came in January 2024 when she partnered with Cinema Xng to produce her first cinema film, Queen Lateefah. Directed by Captain Degzy, the movie is expected to be a blockbuster.

Toriola expressed deep appreciation for her fans’ strong support throughout her career. She credited their love and loyalty as a driving force behind her continued success, saying, “You all have never failed me. Your love has been a source of motivation.”

Excitement for the movie has been building, with Toriola promising a “September to remember” and teasing that the release will bring “all the good vibes” fans are hoping for. Queen Lateefah hits cinemas nationwide on September 27.
