The Ogun State House of Assembly has approved the 2025-2027 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF), which was presented for consideration by Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun.

The approval came during the Assembly’s plenary session chaired by Speaker Oludaisi Elemide. The House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, led by Vice Chairman Hon. Wahab Haruna, presented the report, which was then moved for adoption by Hon. Lukman Adeleye and supported by a voice vote from the entire House.

The MTEF report was reviewed and adopted sector by sector, including allocations for personnel, overhead, and capital expenditures for various sectors from 2025 to 2027.

Following the sectoral adoption, Majority Leader pf the Assembly Yusuf Sheriff moved the motion for the passage of the House Resolution. Hon. Adeleye Lukman seconded the motion, which was supported by the whole House.

Speaker Elemide directed Clerk Sakiru Adebakin to communicate the House Resolution to relevant authorities, including Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Olaolu Olabimtan, for the preparation of the 2025 State Budget.

Earlier, lawmakers had discussed with Commissioner Olabimtan, advocating for increased budgetary allocations for education and agriculture to enhance food security through mechanized farming.

Lawmakers such as Hon. Yusuf Amosun, Damilare Bello, Adebisi Oyedele, and Lukman Adeleye called for increased investment in mechanized farming and rural development, as well as improved funding for sectors crucial to business facilitation.

In response, Commissioner Olabimtan highlighted that funding for related areas, including infrastructure, transportation, and security, is part of the broader strategy to support these sectors. He also emphasized the importance of agro-business and leveraging its value chain to empower the community.
