Former U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday launched a sharp critique against Vice President Kamala Harris and the Biden administration’s immigration policies.
Trump in a message shared on his X handle, accused Harris of spreading “rhetoric and lies” during a recent debate hosted by ABC News.
Trump, the frontrunner for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, labeled the debate “rigged and highly partisan,” claiming that Harris made false statements aimed at damaging his political standing.
He also condemned the series of lawsuits filed against him, describing them as attempts to sabotage his political campaign.
According to Trump, these tactics have elevated the hostility and division within American politics to unprecedented levels, leading to “hatred, abuse, and distrust.”
The former president did not stop at criticising Harris and the legal challenges he faces.
He extended his attack to the Biden administration’s handling of immigration, warning of the dangers of what he termed an “invasion” of the country.
Trump called for the immediate closure of U.S. borders and the deportation of what he described as “terrorists, criminals, and the mentally insane” back to their countries of origin.
In his characteristic style, Trump painted a dire picture of America’s current state, claiming that the world is “laughing at us as fools” and that foreign nations are “stealing our jobs and our wealth.”
He reaffirmed his stance on immigration, advocating for a merit-based system and emphasising that those seeking to enter the U.S. must “love our nation” and do so legally.
Trump’s post concluded with a rallying cry to his supporters, invoking his signature slogan: “Make America Great Again.”
The statement comes amid rising tensions in the lead-up to the 2024 election, as the U.S. former president Trump continues to assert his influence within the Republican Party while facing multiple legal challenges.
