Popular Nollywood actress, Adunni Ade, has opened up about her uncertainty regarding her career path, while declaring her passion for entertainment.

Ade, who has made a name for herself in the Yoruba film industry, expressed her thoughts during an interview with HipTV, where she discussed her growth in Nollywood.

Known for her roles in films like Netflix’s Tokunbo and Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, Ade revealed that her entry into acting wasn’t initially planned.

She started as a model and later transitioned into comedy skits while living in the United States.

Her acting career began when Nigerian filmmaker, Saidi Balogun, reached out to her, marking the beginning of her Nollywood journey.

“I don’t know if it’s my calling. I just love entertainment. I started off as a model many years ago and transitioned into comedy skits while still in the States. I would post on YouTube, and one day I got a call from Saidi Balogun. That was when I started flying back to Nigeria for films, and eventually, I decided to move here permanently,” Ade recounted.

Despite her success, Ade acknowledged the challenges she faces in navigating her career in Nollywood, noting that every industry comes with its ups and downs.

She expressed gratitude for her continued presence on screen but emphasized the need for more industry growth.

“Nollywood is growing and getting the recognition it deserves, but there’s always room for improvement. I’m grateful to still grace everyone’s screens and hope I do a great job portraying the characters I play,” she added.

Ade also addressed an issue that many actors face in the industry: typecasting.

She urged producers and directors to see her versatility and refrain from limiting her to stereotypical roles.

“A lot of times, I’m seen as fragile, and that sometimes limits the roles I’m offered. I don’t want that. I can switch up and take on different characters. I can handle ghetto scenes just as well as more refined roles. My switch game is top-notch,” she stated, urging filmmakers to explore her range of talents.
