In a bid to maintain order along the Lagos State waterfront, the Lagos State Government has issued contravention notices to Jonah Court, DHL, Polo Avenue, and 66 other establishments at Admiralty Way and Wole Olateju in Lekki Phase 1.
These properties have been cited for encroaching on the Lekki Cowrie Creek waterfront setback.
Lagos State Commissioner for Waterfront Infrastructure Development, Yacoob Ekundayo Alebiosu, stated that the affected companies are illegally occupying waterfront setbacks, violating the Lagos State Waterfront Law No. 3 of 2009, which regulates waterfront development in the state.
Alebiosu urged the companies to present valid documents or titles authorizing their use of the setback at the Ministry of Waterfront Infrastructure Development, located at Block 10, State Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja.
He said failure to comply could lead to the properties being sealed or demolished.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to safeguarding the Lagos State waterfront by providing essential infrastructure and creating a protected, attractive environment for tourists and residents alike.
