The Edo State governorship election will hold on Saturday, 21st September. Here are some brief facts about the election.
1. The 11th governor of Edo will emerge through the election.
2. 18 political parties are contesting in the election.
3. The frontline candidates are Asue Ighodalo of the People’s Democratic Party, Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress and Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party.
4. A total of 2,629,025 people registered as voters.
5. 2,249,780 persons representing 85.57% of the registered voters have collected their Permanent Voter Cards.
6. The election will take place in the 18 Local Government Areas of the state.
7. However, eight of the LGAS have been identified as violence-prone. They are: They include Ikpoba/ Okha, Oredo, Egor, Ovia South West, Ovia North East, Esan East, Etsako West and Etsako East.
