The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Secretary, Sen. Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, said he and other lawyers and party agents at the Edo governorship election collation centre had to walk out Gov. Godwin Obaseki who had stormed the centre.
The erudite lawyer said, “We told Obaseki to leave the collation centre because he had no business there.”
He made this known while speaking with pressmen in Benin on Sunday morning.
“When you are acting as an umpire, you must be seen to be fair to all concerned. Mr Obaseki’s action here is unbecoming of somebody who is holding that sensitive position.
“As the Chief Security Officer, it’s like a disrespect to his office,” Sen. Basiru said.
He explained that collation had been done at the ward level and that results up to 96% had been uploaded, adding that 11 am was fixed for collation at the state level.
He chided the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP for brandishing the year 2020 election result as the result of the just concluded election.
He condemned Gov Obaseki for behaving like a desperado.
