Legendary Nigerian comedian Ali Baba has made headlines after revealing the extravagant lifestyle of a popular musician who reportedly splurged over 1.5 billion naira in just two months.

Speaking during an interview on the Eden Oasis Realty podcast, Ali Baba shared the financial decisions of the unnamed artiste, talking about wealth management in the music industry.

According to Ali Baba, the musician earned a staggering 400 million naira for a performance in Dubai and an additional 500 million naira at another international event.

Instead of investing the manna from heaven wisely, the artiste allegedly spent the money on a luxurious Maybach, various other vehicles, extravagant jewelry, and an extensive shopping spree.

“Within less than two to six months, he has spent about 1.5 billion naira,” Ali Baba stated.

He criticized the musician’s choices, suggesting that the funds could have been better allocated to purchasing land, constructing a recording studio for upcoming artists, or even building an event center that could generate ongoing revenue.

Ali Baba pointed out that the musician recently got married but chose to rent a hall for the ceremony. “If he had built his own hall, he wouldn’t have needed to spend the money on renting one,” he lamented.

In the podcast, he drew a stark contrast between the financial struggles of emerging artistes and the treatment of established musicians.

He cited the case of Asake, who sought a 1 billion naira loan to organize a concert in London but faced rejection.

“A car dealer goes to the bank and says he wants to import 12 cars. They would give him the money, but when Asake wants to organize a concert that could potentially earn him two billion naira in a single night, he is turned down,” Ali Baba noted.
