Former President Donald Trump has launched a scathing attack on the Biden-Harris administration, claiming they’ve abandoned Americans in various crises, including the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.

Trump specifically targeted Vice President Kamala Harris, implying she’s clueless and ineffective in responding to the disaster.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Trump labelled a recent photo of Vice President Harris receiving a FEMA briefing as “fake and staged,” criticising her for not even plugging a cord into the phone.

He claimed this was symbolic of a larger failure by the Biden administration to effectively respond to emergencies and protect citizens.

“They [Biden and Harris] sacrificed Americans to an Open Border, and now, they have left Americans to drown in North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, and elsewhere in the South,” Trump wrote.

“Under this Administration, Americans always come last, because we have ‘leaders’ who have no idea how to lead!”

The former president’s comments come after Harris posted an update stating that she had been briefed by FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell on Hurricane Helene’s ongoing impact and the administration’s emergency response efforts.

This marks the latest in a series of pointed criticisms from Trump, who has frequently attacked Biden and Harris on their handling of national crises, from border security to natural disasters.

Despite Trump’s attack, the Biden-Harris administration has declared major disaster declarations for areas of Florida, North Carolina, and South Carolina, unlocking crucial resources for disaster survivors.

Over 3,500 federal personnel, including 1,000 from FEMA, are deployed to support response efforts across the impacted states.

So far, FEMA has shipped over 1.9 million Meals Ready to Eat (MREs) and more than 1 million litres of water to affected areas .

Thirty generators have been deployed to support power restoration. Over 95,000 tarps have been provided to help survivors repair or build temporary shelters.
