Operatives from the Port Harcourt Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested 33 suspected internet fraudsters in Rivers State.
The arrests occurred during a sting operation in the Iwofe and Ogboro areas of Port Harcourt, following credible intelligence linking the suspects to online fraud activities.
EFCCs spokesman, Dele Oyewale in a release said during the raid, the operatives recovered several items, including mobile phones, laptops, boxes of counterfeit U.S. dollars, fake Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) stamps, Customs stamps, airport clearance stamps, and forged DHL and FedEx stamps. Additionally, two cars were seized.
He added that the suspects were currently under investigation and would be charged in court once inquiries were concluded.
