CAPPA holds two-day training for journalists

The Corporate Accountability & Public Participation Africa ( CAPPA), is set to organise a two- day training for journalists on sugar-sweeteened beverages tax and industry monitoring.
According to the invite sent to journalists, the event will take place on October 10th and 11th, 2024, at BON Hotel, 51 Sabo Arobiodun Street, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos. The event is scheduled to start at 8:30 am each day.
CAPPA in the invite says “this training aims to enhance the understanding of the link between SSB consumption and the rise of Noncommunicable Diseases (NCDs), such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and cancer, as well as the role of the SSB tax as a policy measure in Nigeria.
“We believe that your participation will greatly contribute to the discussions, especially as we explore the economics of the SSB tax, the interpretation of the Finance Act 2022, and strategies for promoting public health stories related to the tax”.
