The Super Eagles of Nigeria are poised to strengthen their position in Group D of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers as they take on Libya’s Mediterranean Knights this Friday in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

Libya’s head coach, Nasser Al-Hadiri, expressed concerns over the absence of key players in his squad, which he admits will make the challenge of facing Nigeria even tougher.

“We know Nigeria has world-class talents like Victor Osimhen, Boniface, and Ademola Lookman. Missing some of our most influential players puts us at a disadvantage,” Al-Hadiri said.

Super Eagles coach, Augustine Eguavoen, warned against underestimating the Libyan side, despite their challenges.

“It won’t be an easy match. Libya will come here and fight to avoid defeat. But our boys are focused and ready. We know how crucial it is to secure early qualification,” Eguavoen stated in a pre-match briefing.

This match is the first of two consecutive games between the two teams, with the Super Eagles set to travel to Libya for the return leg on October 15.
