In an extraordinary move, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken swift and decisive action, suspending two senior officials, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, National Publicity Secretary, and Kamaldeen Adeyemi Ajibade, SAN, National Legal Adviser, effective Thursday, October 10, 2024.
This significant development was confirmed through a comprehensive statement issued to PM News by the PDP’s National Director of Publicity, Chinwe Nnorom, providing clarity on the circumstances surrounding the suspensions.
According to the NWC, aligned with the acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, the suspensions were necessitated by compelling evidence of disloyalty exhibited by Ologunagba and Ajibade, which contravenes the fundamental principles and values of the party.
In conformity with the provisions of the Party’s Constitution, the NWC constituted an Investigative Committee, chaired by the Deputy National Chairman (South), Taofeek Arapaja. This committee will conduct a thorough inquiry into the allegations levied against the suspended officials.
Concurrently, the NWC directed the respective deputies, Ibrahim Abdullahi Manga, Esq., and Barrister Okechukwu Osuoha, to assume office in acting capacity as National Publicity Secretary and National Legal Adviser, respectively, effective Friday, October 11, 2024.
This interim arrangement will remain in place pending the conclusion of the investigation.
The NWC of PDP also reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to upholding the highest standards of party discipline, unity, and loyalty. In this regard, the committee exhorted all leaders, critical stakeholders, dedicated members, and ardent supporters of the PDP to remain focused, resolute, and unwavering in their commitment.
The NWC also assured that it will continue to steer the affairs of the PDP with unwavering dedication, guided by the principles of transparency, accountability, and the collective interest of the party.
