Ogun set to commence seven-day measles vaccination programme

The Ogun State Government has called on religious leaders, community heads teachers and stakeholders to help sensitise residents of the state on  need  their children to be vaccinated against measles.

The state government during an advocacy meeting with the stakeholders at Doctor’s House in Lukosi area of Abeokuta capital of ogun state noted that the vaccination tagged 2024 Integrated Measles Vaccination Campaign, will commence on Saturday 19th of October across the 20 Local Government Areas of the state and will end Friday October 25, 2024.

Also the Commissioner for Health Dr. Tomi Coker, in a release signed by herself stated that the programme would target children between ages of nine months and 59 months, to reduce morbidity and mortality resulting from measles.

The release indicated that the seven-day exercise would involve the use of government health facilities, churches, mosques, markets, hard-to-reach communities and other designated temporary fixed posts.

She, however, enjoined parents and caregivers to take advantage of the exercise by taking their under-five children, as well as wards to designated centers nearest to them for vaccination.
