New govt: Obaseki to inaugurate transition committee

Ahead of the 12 November, 2024, handing over date to the Governor-elect, Senator Monday Okpebholo, Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo will Friday morning inaugurate a 48-member joint transition committee.

The committee is made up of 24 members each from the government and the APC.

The State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Chris Nehikhare, disclosed this Thursday afternoon at a press conference in Benin City.

The inauguration ceremony will hold at the John Odigie Oyegun Public Service Academy (JOOPSA) on Friday, 18 October, 2024.

The State government’s 24-member committee is headed by the Secretary to the State Government, while the APC committee is headed by a former deputy governor of the state, Pius Odubu.

Nehikhare said the primary objective of the transition committee by Obaseki was to facilitate a smooth handing over of government.

He added that the state government looks forward to collaborative efforts of all members to ensure a seamless transition.
