Nigeria’s Flamingos showcased their relentless form in the FIFA Women’s Under-17 World Cup in the Dominican Republic, crushing Ecuador 4-0 in their second match and securing a spot in the next round with six points from two games.
The encounter, held in Santiago, saw the Flamingos broke the deadlock in the 28th minute when Shakirat Moshood confidently converted a penalty, sending the Ecuadorian goalkeeper the wrong way.
Just three minutes later, Peace Effiong came close to adding to the tally but was thwarted by another impressive save from the Ecuadorian keeper after a close-range effort.
Harmony Chidi doubled Nigeria’s lead in the 54th minute, finally finding the back of the net with a stunning assist from Effiong, who continued to prove instrumental in the Flamingos’ attack.
In the 66th minute, Effiong capitalised on defensive errors from the Ecuadorian side to score, extending Nigeria’s lead to 3-0.
