Jigawa state Governor, Malam Umar Namadi has set up an investigative Committee, mandated to look into the allegation by Kano state Hisbah that the Commissioner for Special Duties under him, Auwal D. Sankara, is involved in a sex scandal.

The authorities of Kano state Hisbah Board claimed to have arrested Sankara, in the company of a married woman, at an uncompleted building, along Lamido Crescent road, Kano, Thursday night.

Sankara has denied that allegation.

Reacting to the development on Saturday, Governor Namadi constituted an investigative committee.

A statement signed by the Secretary to the Government of Jigawa State, Malam Bala Ibrahim indicated that: “The Jigawa State Government viewed with serious concern the media reports circulating in various sections of the Media alleging the State Commissioner of Special Duties involvement in an incident reported before Kano State Hisbah recently.

“The reports led to significant embarrassment and degradation to the reputation of the State Government.”
Accordingly, the State Government is compelled to set up a committee to investigate the reality of the allegations.

“Therefore, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Jigawa State Malam Umar A. Namadi has constituted a committee to be chaired by the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Bala Ibrahim,

other members of the Committee are: Hon. Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports and Culture – Membe; Hon. Commissioner for Basic Education, Hon Lawal Yunusa Danzomo – Member.”

Other members are: Special Adviser Security Matters – Member; Principal Private Secretary to the Governor – Secretary.

The Committee has two weeks within which to submit its report.
