….Expresses condolence to family of late Humphrey Nwosu

Former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar has described the recently deceased Chairman of the defunct National Electoral Commission Prof. Humphrey Nwosu as a brilliant intellect whose innovative approaches helped navigate the numerous challenges imposed by the military regime on electoral management.

Atiku said this while urging the federal government to honour the legacy of Nwosu in electoral reform and management in a statement on Sunday.

The former Vice President also noted that Nwosu who presided over the historic June 12, 1993 presidential election won by the late Chief MKO Abiola, which was later annulled by the military government deserved a fitting tribute for his contribution to the growth of Nigeria’s demcracy.

Abubakar said this in a statement by his Media Adviser, Paul Ibe.

He also expressed his condolences to the family of Nwosu who passed away in the United States last Friday at the age of 93.

The former vice-president said that Nwosu’s passing came at a time when Nigeria continues to struggle with achieving credible elections.

Abubakar also prayed for comfort for Nwosu’s family and for his soul to rest in peace.
