Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, widely known as Tems, has shared that she used to imitate American rap legend Lil Wayne in her younger days.

Appearing on The Cruz Show on Real 92.3 FM, the Oscar-nominated artiste admitted she used to “pretend” to be a rapper, and Wayne was her primary inspiration.

“Hip-hop is my thing. I used to pretend to be a rapper. I love Lil Wayne as well. I used to pretend to be Lil Wayne when I was younger,” she revealed.

Tems, who has rapidly become an international sensation with her unique sound and style, expressed her admiration for Lil Wayne and her eagerness to meet him in person.

“I’ve not met Wayne. I want to meet him so bad. Very soon I know I’m going to meet him.”
