Former reality TV star and wellness advocate, Uriel Oputa, has opened up about her decision to live a more mindful and health-conscious life.
Citing her family’s health history, Uriel stressed the importance of taking preventive steps to avoid lifestyle-related diseases.
In an emotional post, Uriel shared, “Health is truly wealth for me. At my age now, my mother suffered multiple strokes and has been living with high blood pressure. Witnessing her journey led me to make drastic changes because I wanted to break that cycle. I didn’t want history to repeat itself.”
Uriel detailed that through her commitment to healthier choices, her blood pressure remains at an optimal 108/73, a significant achievement that underscores her dedication to wellness.
For her, this journey isn’t just personal. “When I post about health, recipes, or wellness, it’s not just for myself; it’s to enlighten and educate others on the importance of living healthily, exercising, holistic treatments, and regular health checks—things we often overlook in Nigeria,” she explained.
She pointed to the risks of avoiding regular health checks and the importance of exercise, stressing that the choices people make now will affect their long-term health.
“You might think, ‘I won’t get dementia’ or ‘I can’t have a heart attack or stroke,’ but it starts young,” Uriel warned, highlighting the growing concerns about chronic diseases among younger demographics.
Uriel also addressed her followers who reach out for health advice, clarifying, “I’m not a doctor, and I emphasize that. However, I can share what has worked for me, the food I eat, and how I live my life.”
