The  member of the House of Representatives was, however, granted bail in the sum of N500,000 after his arraignment on Wednesday on charges of  assaulting the Bolt  driver, Stephen Abuwatseya, at his residence in Abuja.

A Kuje Magistrates’ Court in Abuja,  has fixed November 8 for the trial of the federal lawmaker Alex Ikwechegh who assaulted a Bolt driver.

The  member of the House of Representatives was, however, granted bail in the sum of N500,000 after his arraignment on Wednesday on charges of  assaulting the Bolt  driver, Stephen Abuwatseya, at his residence in Abuja.

Ikwechegh pleaded not guilty to the charges of abuse of office, assault abd threat to life brought against him by the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.

Upon making his plea, Ikwechegh through his counsel then made an oral application for bail.

The presiding magistrate, Abubakar Umar Sai’id in granting him bail, said, “The court will grant the defendant a bail set at N500,000, with two sureties in like sum. The sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and provide utility bills as proof of residence.”
