Police identify woman stabbed to death in North London

The London Metropolitan Police on Saturday for the first time revealed the name and picture of a 62-year-old Edmonton woman stabbed to death in her home in Enfield, North London.

A 55-year-old woman has been charged with the murder, local media reported.

The 62-year-old Efthyia Constantinou was stabbed to death on Wednesday afternoon, October 30, 2024.

“A phone call was made to the police from an address on Westerham Avenue, in Edmonton, soon after 5 pm that afternoon, and when Met Police officers arrived, they found Efthyia suffering from stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Zaneta Peto, also known as Maria Peto, aged 55, of Charles Street in Enfield, has been charged with Efthyia’s murder. She appeared at Highbury Magistrates’ Court today (Saturday, November 2),” MyLondon reported.

It quoted Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Lee from the Specialist Crime Command as saying “Our sincerest condolences are offered to Efthyia’s family, friends and the wider community who are so deeply saddened by her death. The investigation is at an early stage, but I can confirm that Zaneta was known to the victim and that we are not seeking anyone else in relation to this incident.

“Efthyia’s family will continue to be supported by specially trained officers.”
