Interviewer: Could you share a bit about your background?
Sheni: My full name is Olasheni Taofeek Makinde. I’m from Ogun State, born in Lagos. My music journey began officially in 2015. I went to Solomon Best Private School for primary, Royal Crown for secondary, and completed my BSc at Al-Hikmah University, followed by a master’s degree from the University of the West of England.

Interviewer: Any memorable experiences growing up?
Sheni: I was the child who always got all the attention! I can’t recall any tough experiences; I had a happy childhood.

Interviewer: At what age did you start making music?
Sheni: I started young, but I only took it seriously in 2015. My first recorded song came in 2017, though, back then, it was mostly me and my friends listening.

Interviewer: Why music? You could have pursued so many paths.
Sheni: I just had a natural calling for it. I didn’t go to music school—it just felt like a gift from God, and I knew I had to focus on it.

Interviewer: What challenges have you faced as a professional musician?
Sheni: Being an independent artist is tough, but I’m lucky to have a great team. Gaining recognition has also been challenging.

Interviewer: With the success of Majoo, do you feel pressure for your next step?
Sheni: Not at all. I’d rather focus on preparing than worry.

Interviewer: So, what’s next? Any album in the works?
Sheni: Yes! Expect singles, an album, EPs, and a video for Majoo.

Interviewer: What would make you feel fulfilled as an artist?
Sheni: Becoming a global superstar—that’s the goal.

Interviewer: Any plans for the future?
Sheni: I aim to take African music to new heights globally.

Interviewer: Do you have any mentors?
Sheni: I don’t have mentors, but I respect anyone pushing Afrobeats forward.

Interviewer: What are you most passionate about?
Sheni: Love, nature, and, of course, my music.

Interviewer: Any words for your fans?
Sheni: Stay true to your hustle. Be consistent. Do it as if no one’s watching.
