Alhaji Musliu Akinsanya, famously known as MC Oluomo, has emerged victorious in the election for the national chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).
The election, which took place at the Union’s Zonal Secretariat along the Osogbo/Ikirun road, witnessed the participation of delegates from Osun, Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, and Ekiti.
The election was conducted under the guidance of the acting National President, Aliyu Issa-Ore, represented by Mrs. Adedamola Salam, Head of Finance, National Headquarters, Abuja.
Addressing the delegates, Aliyu stated that the electoral process was conducted in accordance with the union’s constitution.
Aliyu Issa-Ore emphasized that the constitution empowers the zone whose turn it is to produce the president to elect and present the candidate to the National Secretariat.
He commended the southwest zone for fully complying with the constitution in electing Oluomo as President.
In addition to Oluomo’s election, Tajudeen Agbede was elected as Vice President, Southwest, and Akeem Adeosun as trustee from the zone.
Upon taking his oath of office, Oluomo urged unity and peace among members, extending an olive branch to those he may have offended.
The former chairman of NURTW in Lagos said: “I have forgiven everyone that offended me and I wish those I offend would forgive me as well. This is our union and we must be committed to its preservation. We will not allow anyone to destroy our means of livelihood.”
