The superintendent Pastor of Citadel Global Community Church, Pastor Tunde Bakare, on Tuesday has donated a 6KVA solar energy panel to the Faculty of Law at the University of Lagos (UNILAG).
Bakare, a respected cleric and political figure, also established a ₦250,000 endowment fund for the best graduating student of the faculty.
The donation was part of the celebrations marking Bakare’s 70th birthday, observed on November 11.
The week-long events commenced with a thanksgiving service on Sunday, followed by the unveiling of his autobiography, The Least But Definitely Not the Last, at the Citadel Global Community Church headquarters in Oregun, Ikeja, on Monday.
Tuesday’s celebration at UNILAG, themed “Let There Be Light,” saw Bakare, an alumnus of the Faculty of Law, express pride in his alma mater.
Reflecting on his journey through the institution, Bakare noted that the endowment fund would run for six years, aimed at motivating students toward academic excellence and societal impact.
He encouraged students to be diligent and to become change agents within their communities.
Prof. Bolodeku Ige, a former Dean of UNILAG’s Faculty of Law, commended Bakare for his contributions, noting that the initiatives would bring significant benefits to the faculty.
He urged students to leverage this support and contribute meaningfully to societal progress.
The event’s chair, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, Pro-Chancellor of Redeemer’s University and former Vice-Chancellor of UNILAG, also expressed gratitude, noting Bakare’s generosity as a meaningful example of giving back.
