The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has strongly condemned the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) for its handling of the local government election held in Ogun State on Saturday.

The party alleges that OGSIEC displayed bias and poor organization, which hindered the electoral process.

According to Honorable Semiu Akingbala, the Ogun Central Senatorial Chairman of the NNPP, OGSIEC officials failed to show up in Ososun Ward 8, Ifo Local Government Area, which has 49 polling units.

He further alleged that this was not an isolated incident, claiming similar complaints were reported in other regions.

Comrade Omokehinde Olowu, the Public Relations Officer of the NNPP in Ogun State, also criticized OGSIEC for its logistical failures. He pointed out that most OGSIEC officials arrived late, around 2 PM, when most voters had already gone home.

According to him, the officials brought only 50 ballot papers for Councillors and 50 for Chairmen.

The NNPP also alleged incidents of intimidation and harassment by armed thugs allegedly linked to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In Ofada Ward, NNPP councilor candidate Prince Adenekan Azeez Aribidesi claimed that OGSIEC officials arrived late, adding that in polling unit 08, NNPP members and agents faced harassment.

The party, however, called for transparency, urging that no results should be declared from polling units where elections did not take place.
