Jude Nnam, a prominent Nigerian Christian music composer, has been abducted in Umunnachi, Anambra State.
The music icon, widely known as Ancestor, was reportedly kidnapped on Thursday evening at around 6 p.m. while in the state for a church function.
Nnam is a highly respected figure in the Nigerian Christian community, serving as the National Music Director for the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and a member of the National Liturgical Commission for the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN).
The news of his abduction was shared on social media by Rev. Fr. Augustine Mario, who posted a heartfelt plea for prayers.
He urged the public to keep Nnam in their thoughts, praying for his safety and quick release.
“Please kindly keep Sir Dr. Jude Nnam (Ancestor) in your prayers. He was allegedly kidnapped yesterday evening around 6 p.m. in Umunnachi, Anambra State. May God grant him safety and quick release from his abductors. Amen,” Rev. Fr. Mario wrote.
A second Catholic priest also expressed shock and concern over the incident, sharing his frustration with the ongoing security challenges in Nigeria.
“If this is true, then it is a huge shame. I’m simply tired of this unfortunate space called Nigeria. Why this type of pain and frustration now? Anyway, I just hope this isn’t true. Jude Nnam Ancestor! It is well. Fada Mentor,” he posted on Facebook.
Jude Nnam, who recently celebrated his 50th birthday, is known for his great contributions to Nigerian Christian music.
He also recently ministered at the Unusual Praise 2024 event held at the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity in Onitsha.
