The All Progressives Congress’ (APC) candidate, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has tightened his grip on the Ondo State governorship race by claiming decisive victories in Okitipupa and Akure North Local Government Areas.

Results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday morning revealed that Aiyedatiwa polled 26,811 votes in Okitipupa, leaving his closest rival, Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), trailing with 10,233 votes.

In Akure North, the APC candidate achieved another resounding win, securing 14,451 votes, while Ajayi managed 5,787 votes.

The margins in both areas further solidified Aiyedatiwa’s commanding lead in the governorship race.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed that the results of the remaining three local government areas — Ilaje, Ese-Odo, and Odigbo — would be announced by noon today.

With Aiyedatiwa’s strong performance so far, his supporters are optimistic about his chances of maintaining the lead in the final tally.

The Ondo State governorship election has been closely watched, with Aiyedatiwa’s campaign gaining significant momentum in key local government areas, a trend that appears to have continued in the latest results.
