The Gombe State Executive Council (SEC) has approved a proposed budget of N320 billion for the 2025 fiscal year.

The Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Salihu Baba-Alkali, announced the approval on Monday following the council meeting presided over by Governor Inuwa Yahaya.

Baba-Alkali disclosed that the governor would formally present the budget proposal to the State House of Assembly on Tuesday.

“At today’s sitting, the council approved a total proposed budget of N320 billion for Gombe State for the 2025 fiscal year. This decision followed extensive deliberations by the council,” he said.

He added that the proposed budget would now be submitted to the House of Assembly for their constitutional review and approval.

In addition, the council approved N160 million monthly for renewing a contract with Cosmopolitan Cleaners, as revealed by Mohammed Fawu, the Commissioner for Water, Environment, and Forest Resources.

Fawu explained that the contract renewal, which totals N1.92 billion for one year, aims to maintain street sweeping and drainage desilting activities in Gombe metropolis.

According to him, the renewed contract, set to commence in December 2024, will cover 191 kilometres of roads in the metropolis. (NAN)
