Sanusi Sakiru, 63, on Monday, appeared at an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly defrauding a prospective house buyer of N30 million.

Sakiru of No 4, Boluwatife St., Olodo Area, Ibadan, was arraigned on a three-count charge of conspiracy, fraud and stealing.

The defendant however pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Prosecutor Akeem Akinloye told the court that the defendant and others at large allegedly conspired to commit the offence of  N30 million fraud.

Akinloye said that the defendant and his accomplices between March 3, 2022 and Oct. 23, 2024, allegedly fraudulently obtained N30 million from one Mr Joshua Akande, the complainant.

He said that the defendant allegedly collected the said sum from the complainant on pretext of selling an uncompleted duplex to him at Oni and Sons Area of Ibadan.

The Prosecution Counsel said that the offence contravened Section 390 (9), 419 and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Olabisi Ogunkanmi, however, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N7.5 million with two sureties in like sum.

Ogunkanmi said that one of the sureties must be a landed property owner while the second surety must be a blood relation of the defendants.

She, thereafter, adjourned the matter until March 18, 2025 for hearing.
