The Agoro family of Lagos recently commemorated the remarkable life of their patriarch, Pa Funsho Braimoh Agoro, with an 8-day Fidau prayer and burial ceremony following his passing on November 16, 2024, at the age of 105.

The event, held at the Eko Club Arcade Hall in Surulere, Lagos, brought together dignitaries from various fields who honoured the centenarian’s legacy of faith, service, and dedication to humanity.

Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Olabode Agoro, expressed heartfelt tributes, describing the deceased as a pillar of strength and wisdom.

“Papa’s century-long journey was a testament to integrity, resilience, and selfless service. He was a beacon of love and unity, leaving an indelible mark on everyone he encountered,” Agoro stated.

The deceased’s youngest son, Mr. Ibraheem Olatunbosun Agoro, highlighted his father’s exemplary career, which spanned over three decades at the Nigerian Ports Authority and ventures in entrepreneurship.

Recalling their close relationship, he said, “My father’s honesty and diligence inspired everyone around him. Though I will miss him dearly, I trust Allah knows best.”

Hon. Tajudeen Jaiyeola Agoro, General Secretary of the Ojo Chieftaincy Family and a former Lagos State House of Assembly member, shared how his uncle shaped his political journey.

“Pa Agoro provided me with a political textbook filled with wisdom when I was elected in 1999. His insights have guided me throughout my career,” he reminisced.

Alhaji Abdulrazak Bello, Chief Imam of Ahmadiyya Nurul Islam Ebute Metta, praised Pa Agoro’s generosity and urged the family to sustain his legacy through impactful initiatives, such as scholarships, mosque construction, and health programmes.

He also advocated for the continuation of the annual ‘Pa Funsho Ibraheem Agoro Public Lecture,’ which has been a source of inspiration for many.

Pa Agoro’s life of faith, philanthropy, and dedication will remain an enduring legacy. His influence extends far beyond his family, resonating in the lives of countless individuals touched by his generosity and wisdom.
