Speaking at a press briefing, Adetola Bakinson, CEO of Culturati Africa, described the event as a movement committed to promoting cultural diversity and driving creative and economic development across the continent.

The 18th edition of the Culturati Festival, a vibrant celebration of African culture, heritage, and diversity, is set to hold from December 5 to 7, 2024, at Freedom Park, Lagos.

Organised in collaboration with the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, and Culturati Africa, the festival promises a unique blend of cultural, creative, and economic initiatives.

This year’s theme, “Celebrate Diversity and Unity,” underscores the festival’s mission to preserve African traditions while fostering empowerment and growth.

Speaking at a press briefing, Adetola Bakinson, CEO of Culturati Africa, described the event as a movement committed to promoting cultural diversity and driving creative and economic development across the continent.

The festival will feature the Culturati Community Library, an initiative advocating for literacy and cultural education.

Additionally, nearly 100 Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) will showcase their products at an exclusive trade fair in partnership with NaijaBrandChick, providing participants with visibility and access to new markets.

Highlighting its dedication to youth empowerment, Bakinson revealed that the Culturati Academy has trained over 10,000 youths in digital marketing, video production, and content creation, with plans to equip even more young people this year.

Freedom Park, the festival’s venue, will also receive a facelift to enhance its appeal as a cultural landmark. Once a colonial-era prison, the park is now a thriving hub for arts and culture, symbolising freedom and resilience. The upgrades aim to attract more tourists, cementing its place as one of Lagos’ premier cultural destinations.

“This festival is more than an event; it’s a movement that boosts Lagos’ economy through tourism, celebrates our African identity, and integrates cultural diversity into the state’s development agenda,” Bakinson said.

With high-profile dignitaries and international guests expected, Culturati 2024 is poised to elevate African culture on the global stage while driving innovation and empowerment in the cultural and creative industries.
