The Lagos State Government on Monday announced a traffic diversion on a section of Ajose Adeogun Street, Victoria Island, for the Christmas Youth Parade.
The parade was scheduled to take place on Sunday, 8th December 2024, from 6:00 am to 3:00 pm.
The Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, in a statement on Monday, stated that motorists were advised to use alternative routes.
He explained that motorists heading to Eko Hotel Roundabout from VCP Hotel would be diverted to Jubril Martins Street, turning right into Muri Okunola Street to connect Ligali Ayorinde Street, then linking Bishop Aboyade Cole Street and Tokunbo Ademola Street to reach their destinations.
“Traffic from Ligali Ayorinde Street heading to Eko Hotel Roundabout will be diverted to Bishop Aboyade Cole Street, to connect Adetokunbo Ademola Street, to continue movement to a desired destination.
“Motorists inward Ajose Adeogun Street from Eko Hotel Roundabout will be diverted to Adetokunbo Ademola Street, to turn right into Bishop Aboyade Cole Street, to link Muri Okunola Street, to connect Jubril Martins Street, to link Ajose Adeogun Street for their desired destinations,” he said.
While urging motorists to exercise patience due to the diversion plan, Osiyemi assured that officers of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) would be on duty to ensure seamless traffic flow and the safety of motorists.
“Motorists are implored to be patient as the road diversion is part of the traffic management plans for this year’s 2024 Youth Christmas Parade in Ajose Adeogun Street, Victoria Island, Lagos,” he added.
