Veteran singer and activist Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy or Area Fada, has revealed his struggle with prostate cancer and the impact it had on his life.
In a statement, the Maverick entertainer disclosed that he was diagnosed with stage 1 prostate cancer, a condition that left him sterile and disinterested in sex. To address the ailment, he underwent surgery, which he described as a life-changing experience.
Charly Boy expressed his determination to turn his personal battle into a mission to assist others. He announced the establishment of the Charly Boy Foundation, an initiative aimed at raising awareness and providing support for men dealing with prostate cancer.
“This journey has opened my eyes to the silent battles many men face. Prostate cancer is not just a health challenge; it affects every aspect of life. With the foundation, I hope to create a platform where men can get the help they need and reduce the stigma around this condition,” he said.
The singer, known for his outspoken personality and advocacy, encouraged men to prioritize regular health checks, emphasizing early detection as a critical factor in overcoming the disease.
