Fire service rescues woman from chemical explosion in Lagos

Lagos Fire and Rescue Service says its operatives have rescued a woman from a chemical induced fire that happened in Agege area of the state.

The Director of Lagos fire agency, Mrs Margaret Adeseye, confirmed the development in a statement on Saturday. She said that the incident occurred at 6:38 p. m on Friday at 291, Old Abeokuta Motor Road.

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service said its operatives have rescued a female adult from a chemical induced fire that happened in Agege area of the state.

The Director of Lagos fire agency, Mrs Margaret Adeseye, confirmed the development in a statement on Saturday.

She said that the incident occurred at 6:38 p. m on Friday at 291, Old Abeokuta Motor Road.

Adeseye said that Agege fire and rescue crew of the agency put out the fire.

“The fire service brought the situation under control after dousing the fire from the explosion of sets of varying kegs sizes containing unknown chemical stored in an open fenced-gated land.”

According to her, investigation into the ownership and type of chemical is ongoing,

“It was discovered that heat radiation is attributed to the explosion of the chemical which were kept unprotected from sunlight, ” she said.

According to her, the rescued lady is however responding to treatment from sustained first degree burns. (NAN)
