The Federal Fire Service, Kaduna Zone, in collaboration with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), has embarked on a public awareness campaign to educate citizens on fire prevention and safety measures.

The campaign, themed “Achieving Zero Fire Emergency Through Fire Prevention, Detection, Protection and Control,” commenced with a visit to the Emir of Zazzau’s palace in Zaria and continued with a sensitization exercise at Sabon Gari Market.

Jonah Ayuba, State Commandant of the Federal Fire Service, highlighted the campaign’s importance, particularly during the harmattan season, when fire incidents are more prevalent. He emphasized that the initiative aims to inform the public about effective responses to fire outbreaks.

“Carelessness and willful acts are major causes of fire outbreaks,” Ayuba stated. “We urge the public to prioritize fire safety by observing preventive tips and equipping households and business premises with fire extinguishers.”

Ayuba noted that the service had secured approval to train organizations on fire safety and to ensure that fire prevention measures are implemented in their facilities.
