NNPCL during the sensitisation

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has concluded a sensitisation campaign across major cities in Borno State, promoting the efficient and safe use of petroleum products.

Olufemi Soneye, Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Ltd., described the initiative as part of a nationwide effort to enhance stakeholder engagement, ensure transparency, and address public concerns.

During the interactive sessions, drivers and commuters commended NNPC Ltd. for organising the programme but called for the establishment of more retail outlets in the state.

They argued that additional stations would ease access to affordable, unadulterated petroleum products and eliminate the need to travel long distances for refuelling.

Saminu Yakubu, park leader of Borno Express, said: “We appreciate the efforts of NNPC Ltd in organising this sensitisation exercise, but we want to use this opportunity to appeal to the company to establish more retail stations in the state.”

Muhammadu Dan Inna, chairman of Kano Line in the state, echoed similar sentiments: “We often have to travel long distances to buy fuel, which is not only stressful but also expensive.”

Responding to the concerns, the NNPC team assured stakeholders of plans to expand its retail presence in Borno.

The company disclosed that it had identified strategic locations for new outlets to enhance access to petroleum products, emphasising its commitment to ensuring national energy security.

The sensitisation exercise, attended by drivers, commuters, and community stakeholders, featured presentations on the safe and efficient use of petroleum products, as well as the importance of adhering to safety protocols at retail stations. Some participants won gift items and freebies during raffle draws held at various motor parks.
