The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has promoted 1,645 officers to their next ranks and upgraded 238 marshals to the prestigious Superintendent Route Commander (SRC) position.
This was announced by the Corps Marshal, Mallam Shehu Mohammed, during the 4th Quarter Strategy Session of the FRSC High Command held on Thursday in Abuja.
Mohammed explained that the promotions were part of the FRSC’s ongoing efforts to improve staff morale and productivity.
“This is a testament to our commitment to the welfare of staff, which is vital for fostering motivation and resourcefulness within the organization,” he said.
The promotion exercise saw 108 marshals upgraded to the rank of Route Commander (RC), 407 to Deputy Route Commander (DRC), and 646 to Assistant Route Commander (ARC). Also, the FRSC approved the harmonisation of Marshal Ranks into the Officer Cadre for marshals with higher qualifications, aligning their career progression with their academic achievements.
Noting the importance of the promotion, Mohammed added, “This exercise is not merely administrative; it is an obligation to recognize and reward hard work, which drives productivity.”
The promotion of officers to higher ranks is part of a broader effort to implement welfare policies designed to enhance staff motivation and overall operational efficiency. The 2024 Officers Promotion, which included a shift from Deputy Route Commander (DRC) to Assistant Corps Commander (ACC), was released on December 9, benefiting 1,645 officers.
The Corps Marshal also commended the Federal Government for its ongoing support, particularly through the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
He restated the FRSC’s dedication to prioritizing staff welfare and development, emphasizing that these efforts are crucial for the Corps to achieve its mandate of ensuring safer roads.
Dr. George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), delivered a keynote address, praising the Corps Marshal’s leadership and the FRSC’s innovative approach to road safety. Represented by Dr. Maurice Mbaeri, Permanent Secretary of the General Services Office (GSO), Akume noted that the FRSC’s use of technology, such as digital enforcement tools and road safety data integration, had enhanced operational efficiency. He also highlighted the Corps’ focus on professional development through specialized training programs, ensuring officers are equipped to tackle modern road safety challenges.
Akume commended the Corps’ emphasis on discipline, professionalism, and staff welfare, adding, “The unwavering dedication of the officers and marshals remains the backbone of the Corps’ successes.”
