Nigerian rapper and fashion entrepreneur Zlatan Ibile has criticized the actions of some industry colleagues who publicly shame individuals for wearing fake designer outfits.
In a viral video, Zlatan condemned the practice, stating it is insensitive to mock people who cannot afford original designer products.
He emphasized that everyone deserves the freedom to express themselves, regardless of their financial situation.
“People wey dey buy fake, make dem dey buy am until dey get money to buy original. Person wey wear fake today, go wear original tomorrow,” Zlatan said, encouraging empathy and understanding in the fashion community.
The statement follows recent controversies involving notable fashion entrepreneurs calling out celebrities for wearing counterfeit designs.
Fashion entrepreneur Rahman Jago recently criticized veteran singer Oritse Femi for allegedly wearing fake high-fashion apparel. Similarly, Olayinka Ashogbon, the founder of the luxury brand Ashluxe, had earlier called out singer Lyta for donning counterfeit designs of his clothing line.
