Nollywood actor and fashion enthusiast, Alesh Sanni, has expressed outrage over the reported 14-year prison sentence handed to a man in Osun State for allegedly stealing a fowl.

The incident has stirred criticism after news broke that the court in Osun had sentenced the man to a lengthy prison term for the minor crime.

Actress Biola Bayo, in an interview with the mother of the accused, lamented the apparent injustice inflicted upon her family.

She called on the Governor of Osun State to intervene and review the case. While the details surrounding the theft remain unclear, the incident has gained significant attention online, with the video of the interview going viral.

Reacting to the case, Sanni took to social media to criticize the misuse of power by those in authority.

In a post, he slammed the individuals responsible for the unjust sentence, stating that it wasn’t the government itself but the corruption within its ranks that was to blame.

Sanni wrote, “People in power just do anyhow in this my country Nigeria… Imagine someone just stole a fowl and was sentenced… Imagine 14 years in prison for just a fowl… Please those in charge should be published because whyyyyyy… This isn’t about government but about the evil people in power. You people have no fear of God. This is really sad…. It takes nothing chai… Nothing but freedom walai chai.”

This outcry comes after Sanni previously shared an emotional video on social media, breaking down in tears as he discussed the struggles many individuals face, despite their outward appearances. The actor, who posted the video from an undisclosed location, reflected on the importance of focusing on what truly matters and advised those going through challenges to find solace in prayer.

Sanni’s passionate plea resonated with many, as he reminded his followers that sometimes, behind the smiles seen in photos, people are silently battling their own hardships.

The Osun State government has pledged to intervene in the case, following the viral outrage and calls for justice.
