Acting Controller, Nigeria Customs Service, (NCS) Ogun Area l Command, DC Mohammed Salisu Shuaibu, has outlined the Command’s recent successes in combating smuggling activities.
DC Salisu at a press briefing held at Idiroko area l Command listed seizure of contraband goods worth N229,112,424.00 in recent operations as one of the achievements of the Command.
He listed the seized items to include: 2,169 bags of foreign parboiled rice,1,128 parcels of cannabis sativa, 21 bales and two sacks of used clothes,166 pieces of pneumatic tyres,4,360 cartons of imported shoes, 250 kegs of PMS, 20 units of vehicles used for conveyance,1 unit of foreign used vehicle (2012 model Toyota Highlander)
According to him, th seizures were made across various locations in Ogun State, including Idiroko, Ilaro, and Abeokuta.
DC Shuaibu while addressing the newsmen emphasized the economic and social dangers of smuggling, particularly rice, cannabis, and used clothes.
He stressed the Command’s commitment to dismantling smuggling networks and warned smugglers of the consequences of their illegal activities.
The Acting Area Controller reiterated the Command’s dedication to legitimate trade and pledged to continue collaborating with sister security agencies and the community to ensure the success of Customs operations.
