NAFDAC uncovers massive counterfeit rice operation in Nasarawa

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) says it has seized 1,600 bags of fake rice worth ₦5 billion, in Nasarawa.

NAFDAC in a statement on Friday, said, “In a major operation, NAFDAC has shut down eight rice shops and a warehouse in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa state.”

NAFDAC said the development caused further raids in Wuse and Garki markets in Abuja.

The statement said the officials discovered  that counterfeit rice was repackaged in branded bags bearing names of  popular brands like Big Bull, Royal Stallion, and Tomato Aposo.
