The Edo State House of Assembly has approved the state’s 2025 budget of N675 billion, paving the way for its transmission to Governor Monday Okpebholo for assent.

The Edo Assembly’s approval followed the adoption of the report by the House Committee on Budget and Project Monitoring during Monday’s plenary in Benin.

Presenting the report, the committee chairman, Sunday Fada (PDP, Esan Central), explained that the budget comprises N225 billion for recurrent expenditure and N451 billion for capital expenditure.

Fada highlighted that the committee recommended an increase in the budgetary allocation to facilitate the governor’s five-point agenda aimed at driving development across the state.

During the committee’s consideration of the budget, members reviewed it clause by clause and approved the increase from the original N605.7 billion to N675 billion.

Following the passage, Speaker Blessing Agbebaku directed the Clerk of the House, Yahaya Omogbai, to forward clean copies of the approved budget to the governor for his assent. (NAN)
