Former President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed deep sympathy for Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi, following the devastating loss of his mother and son within 24 hours.

The tragic events, which have left the governor and his family in mourning, were described by Buhari as a test of faith ordained by Allah.

In a condolence message conveyed through a telephone call, Buhari urged Governor Namadi to remain steadfast and accept the sequence of events as Allah’s divine will.

He emphasised that life and death are within Allah’s control, encouraging the governor to seek solace in his faith.

“Accept what has happened as Allah’s will. He gives and takes life as He pleases,” Buhari said.

He also highlighted that such a profound loss would touch the hearts of all compassionate individuals, offering his prayers for strength and comfort for the bereaved family.

The statement, issued by Buhari’s spokesperson, Garba Shehu, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday, described the double tragedy as a moment of trial for the governor.

Buhari urged Namadi to transform this period of grief into an opportunity to deepen his faith in Allah and rededicate himself to serving the people of Jigawa State.

The former president also extended prayers for the departed souls, asking Allah to grant them eternal rest and to bestow the Namadi family with the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable losses.

Governor Namadi, who assumed office earlier this year, has been a prominent figure in the state’s developmental efforts.

The double tragedy has elicited an outpouring of condolences from across the nation, reflecting the high regard in which he is held.
