The Police in Imo have arrested a Catholic priest, Rev. Father Joseph Enyinaya, who is alleged to have shot dead a teenager at St. Columbus Catholic Church, Amaimo Ikeduru Local Government Area of the state.
The Nation reports that residents claimed the Catholic Priest brought out his revolver and shot the young boy who had thrown a firecracker inside the church on December 31.
According to the report, Eyinnaya was arrested by the police and the development was confirmed on Thursday by the police spokesman in Imo, Henry Okoye.
“The priest has been arrested, and the body of the boy has been recovered and deposited at Atta Ikeduru Mortuary.”
Okoye also said that a detailed investigation has commenced to unravel the facts surrounding the incident.
“The police investigation is expected to shed more light on the events leading up to the incident,” he told The Nation.
